The City of Chelsea is continuing to make steady progress with its Downtown Broadway Utility Project (DBUP). Below is the work scheduled over the next few weeks and the related traffic impacts.

The following dates and closures are subject to change as needed and as work progresses. For the most up-to date road closures happening city-wide, visit chelseama.gov/traffic.

• On May 5th, a DBUP crew will continue construction work in front of City Hall/City Hall Ave. The crew is estimated to finish sewer installation this week.
• Once that phase is complete, they will return to Hawthorne and Broadway and work their way towards Bellingham St to install drain lines.
• Once that phase is complete, they will return to Broadway and Grove St to install drain lines, continuing toward City Hall Ave.
• Expect one-lane closures in the vicinity of Washington Ave, Hawthorne St, and Broadway. As well as side streets like Bellingham St to be closed when construction is on-going on these specific side streets. 
• To support MBTA bus operations and passenger pickup, parking will be temporarily prohibited in front of Dunkin’ Donuts on Washington Ave. 
• We anticipate this work to be completed by June 30th.

• On April 30th, a DBUP crew will continue to work at Winnisimmet St.By mid-May, the crew is expected to shift operations to the section of Broadway between Everett Ave and Williams St. In early June, they will return to Winnisimmet St for approximately one week of additional work.
• Anticipate impacts along Everett Ave. Broadway will be reduced to one lane between Everett Avenue and 2nd St during this phase. While work is taking place on Winnisimmet St, between Broadway and 2nd St, this section will be fully closed to all traffic.
• We anticipate this work to be completed by June 16.
