The City of Chelsea is continuing to make steady progress with its Downtown Broadway Utility Project (DBUP). Below is the work scheduled over the next few weeks and the related traffic impacts.

The following dates and closures are subject to change as needed and as work progresses. For the most up-to date road closures happening city-wide, visit chelseama.gov/traffic.

April 10 – April 21: Broadway to One Lane & 5th St at Broadway closed

• On April 10th, a DBUP crew will begin work at the intersection of 5th St and Broadway and will gradually move across Washington Ave, continuing onto Broadway.
• Anticipate one-lane closures around Washington Ave and Broadway during this time. Additionally, the entry onto 5th St from Broadway will be closed for the duration of this work. 
• To assist MBTA buses with picking up passengers, parking will be temporarily prohibited in front of Dunkin’ Donuts on Washington Avenue. 
• We anticipate this work to be completed by April 21.

April 7 – April 21: Broadway/Everett Ave Down to One Lane & Winnisimmet St closed

• On April 7, a DBUP crew will continue working on Winnisimmet St to complete a temporary water bypass as well as install sewer mainline, which will be completed by Wednesday, April 9th. Following this, the DBUP crew will move onto Everett Ave and Broadway to complete drainage work. 
• Anticipate Winnisimmet St from Broadway to 2nd St to be closed for the duration of work. Once work begins on Everett Ave, it will be reduced to a single lane. 
• We anticipate this work to be completed by April 21.
