The Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Chelsea, hosted a Car Show and Marketplace on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Chelsea Square. The event provided local vendors, businesses, and nonprofit organizations with an opportunity to connect with residents while attendees explored a variety of classic and customized vehicles from Chelsea and neighboring communities. The Car Show and Marketplace is also part of the “Summer at the Square” event series, which brings free entertainment and family-friendly activities to Chelsea residents throughout the summer.
Residents had the opportunity to shop from a variety of local vendors offering food, jewelry, and other goods while learning about community resources from participating organizations. Businesses participating this year included Bella Isla, Orlando’s Fully Bakery, John’s Pizza, Koffee Glow, Detalles que Enamoran, Changing Seasons Creations, Cinco de Mayo, and Tacos las Toxicas. Chelsea Pride Youth Sports and the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) Foster Care program also hosted informational tables to share resources with attendees.
More than 25 vehicles competed for awards, including first, second, and third place, Best in Show, and Best Motorcycle. The competition featured a wide range of vehicles, from Honda Civics and Corvettes to a Pontiac Catalina. Third place was awarded to Jose Baez and his Cadillac, second place to Sergio Lara and his Ford Thunderbolt, and first place to David Rizzuto and his Pontiac Catalina. Best in Show was awarded to Viny Hernandez for his Honda Civic. Winners were selected by volunteer judges Armando Montes (Montes Jewelry), Charlie Guiffrida (City of Chelsea), and Bernabe Rodriguez (City of Chelsea).
Before the awards were presented, attendees observed a moment of silence in honor of Erik Vega of Skymile Towing, who passed away last year. Vega was remembered as someone who was “always willing to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to his hometown of Chelsea, Massachusetts.”
The Chelsea Fire Department and Chelsea Police Department also participated in the event. The Fire Department displayed one of its fire engines for residents and families to explore, while the Police Department handed out ice cream to attendees. Captain Thomas McLain Jr. loaned his fully restored, vintage to participate during the event.
Entertainment was provided by DJ and the salsa band Remembranza, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the afternoon. “The annual Car Show and Marketplace reflects what makes Chelsea such a vibrant community,” said Jennifer Hassell, Executive Director of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce. “By bringing together local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents, we’re creating opportunities to support our local economy while celebrating the people and partnerships that make Chelsea unique.”
