Downtown Broadway Project
The City of Chelsea is continuing to make steady progress with its Downtown Broadway Utility Project (DBUP). Below is the work scheduled over the next few weeks and the related traffic impacts.
The following dates and closures are subject to change as needed and as work progresses. For the most up-to date road closures happening city-wide, visit chelseama.gov/traffic.
Crew 1
- End of May – Mid-June: Complete work at Hawthorne and Bellingham Square and finish Broadway sewer in front of City Hall.
- Late June – Early July: Utility work on City Hall Ave
- July and August: Water main installation on Washington Ave between Fay Square and Bellingham Square
Crew 2
- End of May: Drain work on Broadway near Second Street.
- Early to Mid-June: Complete water connections on Winnisimmet Street
- June and July: Fiber optic conduit installation on the sidewalk (west side) of Broadway from Fifth Street to Williams. Business owners will be notified before work commences.
